St Andrews By The Sea, New Brunswick Canada

St Andrews By The Sea, New Brunswick Canada.

When you live in Maine, quick frequent trips into Canada happen. Why do Mainers cross the border into Canada? Lots of reasons. The dollar is worth more than the loonie. The Canadian provinces are beautiful and people who populate them friendly, warm, genuine.

And if you check your family lineage, I bet you will find a DNA connection. My Dad’s mom for instance was 100% Canadian. That means your Me In Maine blog post writer has Canadian blood in the hemoglobin mixture of the red stuff.

This blog post is about a quick but fun trip to St Andrews By The Sea, New Brunswick Canada.

Honeybeans One Neat Breakfast Stop While Vacationing In St Andrews By The Sea. Maine Border Towns Can Mini Vacation Easily Due To Their Unique Time Saving Locations.

Being close to the Canadian border living in on the International boundary line is a real perk.

Houlton ME is a border town with the province of New Brunswick Canada. Just like if you live up in the St John River Valley in the “Crown of Maine”, frequent trips from both sides of the border in Maine and Quebec occur.

I tell people new to the area that living in a Maine border town is like a two nation vacation.

They Did Not Make Ford Edsels Very Long. Don’t See Many Station Wagons.

COVID did put a slight damper on the trotting back and forth border crossings trips between Maine and our Canadian cousins.

Had two boys that chased the black circle, played hockey with half their games over on a solid polished sheet of Canadian ice. It was not uncommon for four times a week or more to be crossing over from Maine into Canada with a Jeep full of young hockey players. But this past weekend’s mini vacation from Houlton ME to St Andrews By The Sea was an old travel habit resumed.

Like  before COVID and from back in the hockey game at a different Canadian hockey arena days, it was a nice return.

Where parents have as much fun as the skaters. My two boys played winter hockey tournaments in St Andrews and it looked different with less businesses open and some white stuff on the ground.

The border crossing was a super pleasant experience.

The ArriveCAN app to make your appointment to cross the Canadian border syncs up quick and easy with your shot records and passport. If you’ve had your COVID shots, the crossing a border between Canada and Maine is nothing to fear or avoid. Red maple leaf rover, red maple leaf rover, come on over.

And both sides of the border are all for the commerce benefits the crossings provide consumers eh?

So leaving Houlton ME, sliding into the port of entry lane entering New Brunswick Canada on our way to St Andrews.

    leaving houlton me entering canada
Leaving Houlton ME, Entering Canada Where I-95 Connects To The Trans Canada Highway. This Is The Scene Leaving The States, The USA.

When leaving Maine, you pass right by the Houlton or whatever border town port of entry.

They will be seeing you on the return back into the states for the questions. The “where have you been, anything for firearms, alcohol, plants? Bringing anything back to declare or picked up on your trip over into Canada?”

Just like TSA, don’t be a comedian, easy on the irritation tone from lack sleep or over spending on your vacation.

For national security, the border crossing customs and immigration people are just going their job. Help them do their routine and everyone behind you can be on their return from Canada way with a little empathy!

When you get on the Trans Canada, switch your cell phone to airplay mode to avoid Canadian cell phone tower roaming charges. Learned that one on ski trips to Crabbe Mountain in Canada. There is lots of commerce happening back and forth across our common Maine Canadian border.

Two hours, sixteen minutes or 113.8 miles heading from Houlton ME to St Andrews By The Sea, New Brunswick Canada.

Easy trip with lots of scenery and everything on road signs in metric numbers and not forgetting those speaking French as a major language. You have left Maine and suddenly everything changes a tad in a good way. So so lucky to live this close to Canada and hope folks on the other side of the border feel the same way about Maine in the International connection.

  • Portland ME Sea Dogs Baseball Game Trip

Portland ME Sea Dogs Baseball Game Trip

Portland ME Sea Dogs baseball game trip, just a quick instate couple of days on the Maine coast.

When you live in Maine, you have “Vacationland” in your backyard. The long drive up to and leaving Maine is removed when you are a local native living in Maine. This past weekend, zipped down to one of the favorite places on the Maine coast, Wells Beach to park it and take in some coastline salt air and sand.

    sea dogs concession stand
Hungry For Stadium Food At Hadlock Field? Pick It Up Yourself Or Sit Still, Delivered To Your Seat. Door Dash It.

Lots to cram in on the mini vacation instate trip agenda including a visit to A Portland Sea Dogs baseball game at Hadlock Field.

Hadlock Field is a minor league baseball stadium in Portland, Maine.

New experience for me and here’s what I learned and can share about Hadlock Field. Hadlock Field, named at Portland High School baseball coach Edson Hadlock  Jr.

The Hadlock Field baseball stadium seats about 7,368 sport fans, compared to Boston’s Fenway Park which can handled roughly 37,500 bat, ball and glove baseball enthusiasts.

Many of the fans wear gloves. Not for warmth or to avoid frost bite. No no, to be ready to hoist that glove into the air and gain a baseball for the collection.

portland sea dogs game hadlock field
Hadlock Field Happy, Ready For A Foul Ball Into The Stand Baseball Fans.

Hadlock Field is used primarily as the home park for the Portland Sea Dogs of the Minor Level Eastern League.

But the Portland High School Bulldogs, the Deering High School Rams baseball teams both utilize Hadlock Field. Hadlock Field is located at 271 Park Ave Portland ME, reach out with questions to 207-874-9300. The Portland Sea Dogs baseball field opened April 18th, 1994 and cost about three million to create. The Portland Sea Dogs are a Double A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.

    hadlock field seating
Great Seats For The Portland Sea Dogs Game. Perfect Weather Too!

How big is Hadlock Field? Here are the stats, the park by the numbers for the Sea Dogs home stadium.

Left field, 315′, Center field, 400′, Right field 330′ is how the Portland Sea Dogs home baseball park shapes up for dimensions.

Named after long time Portland High baseball coach Edson Hadlock Jr, Hadlock field is a 7,368 seat classic minor league baseball stadium.

Had a face lift overhaul in a major renovation in 1993 and boasts great site lines and an intimate atmosphere that brings the fans right into the action. In comparison, The Boston Red Sox’s Fenway Park seats roughly 37,500 baseball fans.

    games contests hadlock field
More Than Baseball Going On At Hadlock Field, Home Of The Portland Sea Dogs Team.

Easy park to get in and out of plus the game day atmosphere at Hadlock Field is probably similar to many other same level ballparks.

You don’t get bored, there is plenty going on to distract from the baseball action on the carefully manicured playing field. Contests, give aways, school and civic group recognition is pretty much going on using the LED big scoreboard screen and PA system. Lots of families, plenty of kids wearing Sea Dog and Boston Red Sox hats and baseball jerseys surround you. Most with gloves hoping to snag a pop fly foul ball into the stands.

A statue of the Sea Dogs’ mascot, Slugger the seal greets fans at the entrance to Hadlock Field.

Slugger is pretty acrobatic and not a bit shy as he/she inside that hot costume works hard to entertain and engage the crowd.

The Houlton Maine School of Dance team went to Portland Maine to perform their routine before the crowd at Hadlock Field in Portland ME! Both Houlton and Studio One in Millinocket dance teams combined to do a Sea Dogs game performance.

Posting more images of the trip down to see the Maine Sea Dogs baseball team that’s home games played at Hadlock Field park in Portland ME.

Plenty of groups invited to the Hadlock Field home games to generate interest and revenue.

Could move around and get something to snack on or visit with other folks you always bang into when you live and travel instate Maine.

Maine #1 For Vacations, But Do Locals Travel Out Of State?

Maine #1 for vacations, no debate on that point.

But do locals, the native travel out of state on Vacations? Or is there so much to do and see in our own Vacationland backyard that few venture out? I am the first to admit to feeling spoiled living in Maine and so lucky to live full time in the Pine Tree State with all the farms, coastline, wooded vast tracts of land.

Life Is A Beach. In Maine, But Also In The Caribbean! Blue Green Water And Tan Sand With No Snow Shovel Is A Pleasing Sight.

If you have read a few blog posts, you have one by one learned about areas all around Maine that get sampled and shared.

Each season the same Maine location serves up a different experience that make it never ho hum or boring. The lack of crowds increases the impact of the Maine setting too. Not over commercialized happens because Maine is tucked away and hidden a fair distance from the population centers.

So can’t talk for the state of Maine local residents as a whole but offer my own personal situation.

Yes, I love hitting a new area of Maine and partly to create fodder for the blog post hunt and peck. To share images and videos of the travels around Maine used to stock the information shelves. I think of the Maine blog as a community library and lots of empty shelves to one by one produce something worthwhile to fill those rows of cyber cabinets. One by one, think of a topic to post and an earlier blog post entry to revisit and update. Days working in broadcast journalism in Bangor Maine’s media market habits die hard.

    mission trip hartman school

But travel outside Maine when you live here… what’s my take on that?

I like to ski, I have three snowmobiles, a pair of snowshoes and my Maine winter is not spent shivering and droning out watching TV on the living room couch.

Most of us love where we live but like to explore and discover. Travel like reading is a wonderful endeavor if you can spare the time and do it economically so you still have money left for groceries and other luxuries like car repair, property taxes, student loans, etc. Family moves around the country and that can kick start the travel to witness how the rest of the World rock and rolls.

Mainers are outdoors every day of the year.

Just dress a little different with layers added or removed depending on the local seasonal weather forecast.

But cruises, sea cruises, those are fun and have climbed on the boat over twenty times. Not taking a cruise out of Maine yet but bee lining in the dead of winter to places that have boats parked and ready to board.

For sun in the fun. Blue green water, palm trees, and the sea passage to a few islands. To snap a couple shots, to purchase a t-shirt or other reminder of the Caribbean boat ride that shakes off the dust of late winter, early spring.

The days at sea pretty fun when you are on one big floating sea cruise ship resort vacation with lots of neat interesting people.

The kind of tourists vacationing for the same reasons the rest of us are. To get away and look back at your life for the much needed Vacation break. Also the many cultures from around the World that work on a cruise ship. Those friendly, hard working folks are fun to meet. To learn first hand from their experiences living on the other side of the World. They freely talk and share about where they live when not sailing the high seas of a floating cruise ship.

Have taken sea cruises out of Miami, Fort Lauderdale, New Orleans LA, Long Beach CA.

Ever Take A Sea Cruise And Do You Use Carnival ?

The latest one has been over two years in the making because COVID threw a major wrench into flying and sailing kind of vacations.

It also made out sauntering across the USA border into our Canadian neighboring provinces not worth the hassle until recently with relaxed and removed mask, vaccine mandates. The cruise, hotel, motel and airline industry took the biggest financial hit when COVID face masks were applied Worldwide.

So last week, a bunch of us flew a silver bird out of Bangor Maine and made the Carnival Cruise Line’s Horizon ship out home away from home.

A couple days at sea starting out, first stop Aruba and then Bonnaire and LaRomana in the Dominican Republic. Before the last island stop at Amber Cove in the DR. The vacation stop in LaRomana was part of a Rotary International mission project. Our local Houlton Rotary club wanted to help the Hartman School who’s needs are great.

Here’s a video of the stop to deliver notebooks, pencils, some financial support for the Hartman School in LaRomana in the Dominican Republic.

The school kids K-6th grade were sharp, funny, appreciative and curious. We hope to keep helping the Hartman School as part of the International Rotary committee work and seeing all the garbage, the need for water filtration systems, bathrooms and more. That was what makes you want to help and at the same time to realize how lucky we are to live in Maine.

Our guide Jessica who met us at the cruise ship dock told us that her Dad, a minister who started the school wanted to break the cycle.

Of everyone working in the sugar cane field and lacking the education to become professionals in any other endeavor. There are jobs and needs far beyond cutting, harvesting sugar cane on these Caribbean island vacation stops.

What do you enjoy doing on vacation besides seeing new sights, total strangers, maybe heading to a beach, eating too much good food?

Do you reach a couple books flying and during your trip? Sip a rum drink or two. Listening to Jimmy Buffett steel drum type island music on a cruise ship deck lounge? Some folks love to gamble, others like to hoist cold and exotic drinks at the water hole bars. Work on their tan. Or buying a t-shirt, souvenir or trinket from the travels for yourself or someone at home.

Something to remember another vacation island stop by.

To share with someone you love on your do to list back home in your regular surroundings. Who took care of the dogs and cats, covered work? Those folks helped make your getaway vacation possible.

Taking images of new destinations, learning about other cultures and locations. Getting life ideas to apply and adjust your own when you get back to Maine. Experiencing a sometimes a 100 degree temperature change in less than a 24 hour period. Sometimes leaving during a Maine winter snow storm and returning with the same weather pattern to greet you after a Caribbean sea cruise vacation.

Vacations are the dessert earned for working hard, budgeting your pay check and saving up time to get out of Dodge!

Trip Downeast Maine To List Saltwater Property On The Coast

Trip Downeast Maine to list saltwater property on the coast.

Maine is one big state and a very popular destination in Vacationland is any coastal region. But when you say you are going up to the Maine coast, where exactly you are referring is not so obvious. Oh sure, this Maine blog post website has one by one exposed different nooks and crannies of the popular coastal tourist haunts. But the further up into Maine you go, the more personal and special the take away experience becomes.

We all seek out our own comfortable corner of Maine.

    maine island jewels
Maine Island Jewels, Add That Ocean Frontage To The Coastline And Maine Has More Than California!

This blog post highlights a trip down to Washington County, the Bold Coast section of Downeast Maine.

If you follow our blog about Maine, you may remember one post about where exactly is Downeast Maine?

Maine has 228 miles of coastline at first glance.

But wait a minute, when you include all the islands dotting that coast and wind in and out of all those inlets and outlets, get out the pencil eraser. Check your math!

Do some more ciphering. Put some white out on that last figure and insert a much higher number.

Vacationland boasts 3,478 miles of Maine coastline. Topping California’s 3,427.

Let all those islands into the add it up tally time and whoa. More than 5,000 miles of rock bound Maine coastline. You would think that means lots of saltwater coastal properties for sale in Maine. Nope.

This week, loaded up the Jeep with 24 gauge metal real estate signs, had a property listing assignment to GPS along the Maine coast.

The Bold Coast… a little further up in the tippy top of all that water then gets much of the press ink.

The address 109 Little Machias RD, Cutler ME. The original owner bought the 2.6 acres of land with 235′ on Little Machias Bay in Washington County. Hired Katahdin Forest Products (Now renamed Katahdin Cedar Log Homes) to build a cedar log vacation home on the Maine coast. Just a simple cathedral ceiling getaway hidden from view, with a long driveway and an open porch to use sitting and thinking. The owner a Vietnam vet that needed space, salt air and the sounds of the Maine seacoast. He built a Katahdin log home to enjoy the Maine coastal setting.

With a lot of properties, if you are lucky you can say you see the Maine ocean in a limited location on it.

Or brag to your friends that you are close to the Maine coast. But not so many Maine coastal property listings actually border the coastline. This one does and is front row, best seats in the Downeast inventory of coastal real estate. Sadly, not enough saltwater property or waterfront listings for that matter in this crazy busy Maine real estate market.

When you head to the Maine coast, it is not a simple set the cruise control and count the Interstate 95 mile markers. Then take your exit, honey your home. No no, with Maine coastal travel, there are windy roads. Twisting up and down and side to side like a snake. You pay attention. Easy to take a wrong turn. Get turned around and lose your bearings.

You see piles of lobster traps racked and stacked. Blueberry barrens, more rock outcroppings, different terrains and ocean views. Lobster boats parked on stands in yard or moored in Maine coastal harbor settings. Everything revolves around coastal life on the Maine coast.

Maine Vacations | Little Time, Lots To See In Maine

Maine vacations, little time, lots to see when you live in Vacationland.

Lucky to live in Maine and whenever there are a couple days here and there, it’s time to explore. Because Maine has four seasons, the same location is so different depending on the calendar spot you visit. So mini, instate Maine stay vacation time. Taking in Maine four season beauty in bite size segments. This past weekend, decided it was time to take in a Maine Black Bear ice hockey game at the Alfond Arena in Orono.

    maine black bear hockey
Maine Black Bear Chilly Cheering Section In The Alfond Arena, Orono ME!

I am a college alumni of the University of Maine Orono campus.

Meg too along with most of my and her family members. The Harold Alfond Arena was just a parking lot when I joined Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity across the street on College Avenue in Orono. I was the treasurer of the fraternity house. Lived there year round working in the Bangor broadcasting market during and after college at the University of Maine at Orono.

Back in the early days around 1977 with Shawn Walsh leading the Maine Black Bear college ice hockey team, it was pretty spectacular.

Had a little bite of Mexican food at Margarita’s in Orono ME before the Black Bear ice hockey game.

You can’t hoot, holler on an empty stomach when you go to a University of Maine Black Bear ice hockey game at the Alfond Arena.

Pat’s Pizza’s flag ship location, the Mother of all Pat’s Pizzas is close by Margarita’s Mexican Restaurant in downtown Orono, ME in Penobscot County. After filling the pie hole at Margarita’s with “South of the Border” menu items food, we headed to the Alfond UMO ice hockey arena. Parked in the steam plant parking lot, by the river. Put on the mask, hoofed it with Meg to the hockey game between Maine Black Bears and UNH Huskies college teams.

Walking home to TKE fraternity during my University years at 370 College Ave Orono ME, I remember watching the Alfond Ice Arena being built.

One board, cement pier at a time put into place. Lots of roof slopes in the design and the kind you can run hard and climb easily wearing sneakers not dress shoes. To overlook the river and reflect on the four year college education bubble experience.

Lines Coming And Going. Using The Two Bench Doors Or Usually Sliding Up And In/Out Over The Alfond Ice Arena Hockey Boards.

We had a Dan Sweeney from Buzzard’s Bay MA in our TKE fraternity house who was a Maine black bear hockey player.

Our intramural hockey games had really crazy ice times because that arena gets used round the clock. Day and night. Every season of the year. It was not uncommon to set your alarm clock, get up at 3 AM and walk over next door to the Alfond ice arena for a college recreation hockey game.

Our biggest rival was Phi Eta Kappa fraternity at UMO.

There were quite a few jocks in each fraternity that competed heavily but also made sure to be at each other’s house parties. Not sure if that qualifies as a love hate relationship or not. Let’s just call it a spirited competition and leave it at that. My Dad was in BETA fraternity at UMO.

Had two boys who played Maine high school hockey and all the games with Old Town, Orono were at the Alfond arena in Orono.

And as any hockey parent knows, in high school, the sport continues year round. Summer hockey games every weekend at UMO’s Alfond Arena happened. And the parents in their shorts and short sleeves come inside out of the warm summer sun.

To watch, run the clock, announce, man the penalty box, to control the flow from the bench out onto the arena ice. To perform whatever chore at the ice arena and then in our case travel two hours back home to “The County”. All uphill heading North. Excited when you see the I-95 sign for “Benedicta ME” on the return home.

You know you are crossing the county line into Aroostook when you see Benedicta that only got one Interstate 95 exit.

After the Maine Black Bear ice hockey game, Meg and I headed over to the other side of Orono. Bagging ZZZzzz’s at the Black Bear Inn right off the Stillwater Ave exit.

We got up early on Sunday to head down to Acadia National Park. Visiting Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor, Bass Harbor lighthouse.

Every little town along the way as you drive the hilly, snaking highways that weave in and out of the coastal villages and towns. Neat coves, amazing rock formations and harbor views that excite.

It’s all a difference experience in a Maine winter.

We’ve blogged about returning to a Maine community vacation destination but in a different season. Like this blog post on Cape Porpoise, Old Port, the Maine coast. No or very few tourists, no bumper to bumper traffic or waiting in line. The peace and quiet replace the crowds of tourist seeking to sample Maine on summer vacation.

Not as many places open during the “shoulder season” or “off season” but the local operators are more laid back, friendlier and not so busy.

Walked around Bar Harbor, shot some blog post images.

Then traveled on to Acadia National Park. Paid the entrance fee and took in the sights on what was open around the perimeter road. Big Sand Beach, Thunder Hole, checked out Bass Harbor Headlight. Saw Egg Rock Lighthouse too and had covered that area from boat in an earlier Maine instate stay vacation.

The pathways, rocks covered with new white fluffy snow and hidden ice make it be better go slow and be super careful.

Watch your step folks. Fresh air, cobalt blue skies, a few tourists dressed warmly and wearing hats, gloves. Some strap on removable ice grips. Weather in Maine, we are outdoors year round. Just dress a little different in the exercise and sight seeing when in Maine.

Always thinking of seafood with the fresh air stimulating the taste buds. After taking in all this eye candy, your hunger for local Maine seafood only increases. Sure we can get lobsters, mussels, clams and crab meat at our local Maine Piggly Wiggly groceries. Or from a pick up with a box truck cooler on back that can fish you out just about anything sea food wise.

But nothing like tapping the source and knowing what you dine on was swimming in the sea not long before the same day direct from the harbor pound.

Decided to sample some Geaghan’s BBQ wings and lay the head in the bed Sunday night in Bangor because Monday was President’s Day, school vacation too. There are many times just too busy to sneak out of town to see some new surroundings living in Maine full time as a native, local insider.

Had a little Maine winter snow storm change the instate vacations weekend plans just a tad.

Because a foot of new fluffy white stuff arriving in the weather forecast last Friday, Meg and I decided to head out a half day earlier. This Maine snow storm started north and headed south so we got on Interstate 95 Thursday afternoon to stay ahead of it. Pushed along during daylight and just warmer temperatures, light rain happening outside the car.

Good cruising to git while the getting was optimum. We both knew the weather was influx, it was going to change. If we sat still or waited getting “out of Dodge” for harder travel conditions to change to match the current forecast. .

Thursday night staying at the Hilton Garden Inn in the Old Port where we could walk to some place new to eat.

No reservations, no need for calling ahead when it’s during a snow storm or in the middle of winter during your instate Maine vacation.

The winds picking up and change over from icy drizzle to a snow crystal like sugar. You don’t have to be an Eskimo to know about the 50 kinds of snow. Living in Maine, because of her sheer size and many weather zones, you get a chance to experience it all. More than the eyeballs see what is developing. You can taste, smell, sense weather change in the Maine air any season.

Back in Aroostook County, over a foot of just white, fluffy light snow landing to blanket the Earth.

While in the Old Port region of Maine, the accumulation was under four inches of a different kind of snow. Granular, more ice than light airy snow flakes. A lot like sugar, sand and hardening up like compact cement to make it harder to plow or shovel.

We ate at Scales in the Old Port.

When in Maine, on the coast, it’s seafood the choice of many. Because it was probably swimming in the sea earlier in the day.

Not caught, hanging around, shipped eventually to all four corners of the World.

No windshield to scrape. No snow to clear off the hood, roof and everywhere else after a Maine snow storm wraps it up.

Our winter jacket hoods were up like the zippers and braced for the Nor-Eastern seacoast winds. You could see even the Portland Harbor chopping, ice chunk water and swells forming as the winds picked up.

The plan on this trip was to re-visit and old familiar haunt, Wells Beach Maine.

The next morning, it was breakfast at the Hilton Garden Hotel lobby.

We could leave the car in the hotel parking garage until 3pm when we would be on our way to the next instate vacation stop at Well’s Beach Maine. Meg wanted to walk to Whole Foods to see her Nature’s Circle Farms produce display at that nearby location.

The yellow potatoes looked great, there were red beets there too. Whole Foods a really neat store and supportive of locally sourced farmers, fishermen, everyone in one neat display.

Exploring the shops up and down the hillside leading toward the Old Port harbor, we wandered in and out to sample the wares.

Landing at Market Square Jewelers to check out the estate pieces. Low key, no expensive oriental runs covering the floor that you don’t want to mess up with slushy feet.

No pressure and had fun locating a few pieces to celebrate the approaching Valentine’s Day and Meg’s birthday this past weekend.

All that walking, and knowing how much great Maine seafood is waiting to try at new venues, we trudged back down the slippery sidewalk slowly to wander into Gilbert’s Chowder House.

The seafood chowder was loaded with lobster, clams, shrimp, scallops, haddock.

There was not much room in there for the potatoes but those and onions showed up for the lunch date too.

These instate Maine vacations mean more food, working up an appetite to sample local dining fare and no diet worries.

The local restaurant and hotel lodging owners in Maine during the winter months are much more laid back. Not so summer tourist season hurry scurry.

No, because the Portland area weather was becoming more difficult to drive in, Meg and I decided to saddle up, to get on the road to Well’s Beach, Maine.

Saturday we walked two hours down Mile RD to wander from Wells to Moody Beach, ME.

Saw some surfers braving the stiff breeze, blue skies, sunshine and low temperatures. They had a cheering audience and we snapped a few shots and video to use in future blog posts that always sample the many facets of this state called Maine.

Had to hit a favorite store, Reny’s to see if anything was on the shelves for the loved ones back home.

Grandchildren are fun to shop for and give back so much enjoyment when they get a gift. We had some hours to spend before the dinner bell rang again on our coastal instate Maine vacation.

The extra half a day going in really made the time go slower, more enjoyably.

Let’s go to Cape Porpoise and see if we can snap an image of the harbor, of Goat’s Island lighthouse.

After seeing another Goat Island ME lighthouse to add to the collection, we noticed a couple going into a buoy covered hideaway.

At first glance thought the restaurant overhead was shut down for the Maine winter. Like many places that are not open or will re-open in March, it was a surprise to go into “The Ramp” part of Pier 77 located upstairs.
